We have a beautiful home we are going to be leasing on Anderson Island, which is a 20-min ferry ride from the Steilacoom ferry dock. It is an amazing place for kids... it's very safe and friendly. It's a 2300 sq.ft., 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home and beyond the backyard is a 3+ mile walking/bicycle trail, so it's very private. There's a golf course and 2 lakes, store, restaurant, marina, many picnic areas and docks around the lakes, many places to hike and ride bikes. There is an elementary school about a mile from the home, and middle school and high school across to mainland Steilacoom schools, which are really great schools.

It's a great experience for kids to live here, like being in the mountains surrounded by Puget Sound, as the island is a complete forest of beautiful trees. There's a small island about a 5 min. boat ride, that takes about an hour to hike around the perimeter and has great clamming (I've heard).
